locate and updatedb

if you run:
locate lsof

and you get this error message:
can not open /var/lib/mlocate/mlocate.db

what you should try is running
updatedb

if you get this:
can not open a temporary file for /var/lib/mlocate/mlocate.db

try
sudo updatedb
