MACBOOK PRO ? No, thanks

I have made a gift of a MACBOOK PRO to a friend, in late 2012.

In 1 year, the motherboard broke twice and the battery is dead.

First time they replaced the motherboard under warranty, but now the warranty is expired and they are asking ridiculously high amount of money to service it.

Needless to say, after this traumatic experience I will never buy a Mac. I am being told it's a superior machine, much more productive than anything else, but I hate my finances being looted like that.
